If you enable Contacts backup and grant Contacts permission, CW Auto Backup reads your contacts to create a standard VCF contact backup file.
Your contacts are transferred only to the backup destination you configure. CW Creative Hub does not receive your contact list.
Notes and Shared Text
CW Auto Backup does not read private databases belonging to applications such as Google Keep or Samsung Notes.
Notes or other text are handled only when you intentionally share or export that content to CW Auto Backup.
3. Location Information
CW Auto Backup includes an optional Home-only backup rule.
If you enable this feature, the app may request precise location permission so it can:
- Save the location you designate as your home backup area
- Determine whether the device is currently within that area
- Allow or prevent automatic backup based on your rule
If you enable both scheduled backups and the Home-only rule, Android background location permission may be used so CW Auto Backup can check whether the device is at home while the app is not open.
Your saved home location and location checks remain on your device.
CW Creative Hub does not receive, track, sell, or use your location for advertising.
You can choose not to use the Home-only feature.
4. Windows PC Backups
When you use the Windows PC destination, backup files are sent directly between your Android device and the Windows PC you pair with CW Auto Backup.
The connection uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS communication and trusted-device pairing.
The Windows Companion is provided as part of CW Auto Backup at no additional charge.
Backup files sent to your Windows PC are stored on that PC and remain under your control.
5. WebDAV and NAS Backups
If you configure a WebDAV or NAS destination, CW Auto Backup sends the files you choose to back up directly to that destination.
The current version requires an HTTPS WebDAV connection.
CW Creative Hub does not operate, control, or receive files stored on a WebDAV/NAS server selected by you.
Your use of a third-party NAS or WebDAV provider may also be subject to that provider’s privacy practices.
6. Credentials and Pairing Information
CW Auto Backup may store information necessary to reconnect securely to a destination, including:
- Trusted PC pairing information
- Pairing tokens
- Pinned PC certificate information
- WebDAV usernames and passwords
- Backup preferences and rules
Sensitive destination credentials are protected using Android Keystore-backed encrypted storage where applicable.
This information is used for app functionality and is not sold to advertisers.
7. Backup and Restore History
CW Auto Backup may maintain local information about backup activity, such as:
- Backup time
- Backup destination
- File name or category
- Backup success or failure
- Duplicate-file status
- Restore activity
- Error information necessary to retry failed backups
This information is used to provide backup history, status information, duplicate protection, and troubleshooting features.
8. Duplicate Detection
CW Auto Backup may calculate cryptographic SHA-256 hashes of files to detect exact duplicate files.
A hash is used to compare file contents and prevent unnecessary duplicate backups.
This feature does not give CW Creative Hub access to your files.
9. Data We Do Not Collect
The current version of CW Auto Backup does not intentionally collect or transmit to CW Creative Hub:
- SMS or MMS messages
- Phone call history
- Advertising identifiers
- Your contact list
- Your photos or videos
- Your documents
- Your backed-up notes
- Your home location
- Your WebDAV password
- Your Windows backup files
The app does not include advertising.
The current version does not include CW-hosted cloud backup storage.
10. Analytics and Advertising
CW Auto Backup currently does not include third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs.
We do not sell personal information or backup data to advertisers.
If analytics, crash-reporting, account services, licensing services, or CW-hosted cloud backup are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated as necessary.
11. Permissions
Depending on which features you use and your Android version, CW Auto Backup may request permissions including:
Photos and videos — to back up media you choose.
Contacts — to create contact backups when you enable the Contacts feature.
Location — for the optional Home-only backup rule.
Background location — for Home-only scheduled backup checks while the app is closed.
Network and Wi-Fi information — to connect with your selected destination and enforce Wi-Fi-only backup rules.
Storage/file access — to back up and restore user-selected files and to support older Android versions.
Boot completed — to restore scheduled backup checks after the device restarts.
CW Auto Backup does not request SMS permission.
12. Background Location Disclosure
CW Auto Backup uses location only when you turn on Home-only backup.
If you also enable scheduled backup, background location allows the app to determine whether your phone is inside your saved home area while the app is closed.
Your location remains on your device and is not sent to CW Creative Hub or included in your PC backup.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
Files stored on your Windows PC, NAS, or WebDAV server remain there until you delete them or otherwise manage them through the applicable storage system.
CW Auto Backup provides features for managing backed-up files and restore operations.
Local app settings and stored pairing information can also be removed by clearing the application’s data or uninstalling CW Auto Backup.
Because the current app does not require a CW Auto Backup online account, there is no CW Auto Backup account containing your personal backup files that must be deleted separately.
14. Security
CW Auto Backup uses security measures intended to protect backup transfers and stored connection information, including:
- HTTPS/TLS encrypted PC communication
- Trusted PC pairing
- Certificate pinning for paired Windows PCs
- HTTPS requirements for WebDAV connections
- Android Keystore-backed protection for applicable stored credentials
- SHA-256 file-integrity verification
No electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
15. Children’s Privacy
CW Auto Backup is a general-purpose backup utility and is not specifically designed or directed toward children.
We do not knowingly use the app to collect personal information from children through a CW Creative Hub server.
16. Google Play Purchases
If you purchase CW Auto Backup through Google Play, payment and transaction processing are handled by Google Play.
CW Auto Backup does not receive or store your complete credit or debit card information.
Google’s own privacy terms apply to information processed by Google in connection with your Google Play account and purchases.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when CW Auto Backup features, privacy practices, legal requirements, or supported services change.
The updated policy will display a revised effective date.
